Cultivated from my lived experiences and activism for enhancing quality of life, I take pleasure in introducing KareKo Well, a patient advocacy and consulting company. I am Dr. Karen Reynolds, CEO & Founder. We welcome all consumers of health with specialized experience in LGBTQ and same sex family advocacy. Our services are designed to improve health equity, inclusion, civility, and feeling well served.
Real person centered care occurs when the communication with patient, family, and care team aligns. Moreover, being on the same page requires placing value on and understanding the needs of all family dynamics. The closet family members some patients have are not biological. I experienced this firsthand. During my mother’s end of life journey, laws did not recognize same-sex partners. She felt she had to list the love of her life, her partner of 33 years, as her sister on documents so she could be recognized as her family. At the time of her death, same sex marriage was still unlawful. Now that our other mother is aging, we have documents in place to ensure we can make decisions for her care just as she has requested.
The health system is a complexity of business practices and care delivery. Navigating it to ensure the best care options can be overwhelming. Through decision-support, education, and collaborative resources, KareKo Well inspires and empowers more pro-active approaches to improve experiences within the health system and beyond. Whether we provide guidance on navigating the system, assist with communication, aligning resources, or offer support for those end-of-life conversations with your family, our goal is to be an essential component of your healthcare team.
